Depends on the area... in Northern Michigan the deer will be digging the potatoe fields all winter long looking for a little fruit.

So, $5 for 50lbs might be money well spent?

Actually, I just found apples on sale for $2.47 for 8 lbs. I figure $10 would be well spent. Fire up the apple cooker!

I tried apples once, I think all I did was feed the raccoons though.

Nothing better than corn, though with all the acorns on the ground in Texas, deer aren't going to any feed these days.
