Holy Hell
My friendsaw this buck in the back yard fighting aconcrete deer.Walking in from hunting so he nocked an arrow and shot from 60 yards and hit it in the leg.The buck turned the concrete deer on top of his antlers and got stuck.Shot the buck 3 more times to finish him off. He is lucky. He is on cloud 9 at school. One kid said i dont shoot anything less than a six ad he said i dont shoot any thing less than a 20 pointer. This deer has 25 points. He is a beast for southern indiana.

RE: Holy Hell
What is the challenge of shooting a buck out of a backyard? Does not seem that would be very rewarding to me.
|
RE: Holy Hell
How
|
RE: Holy Hell
I'll just say, no matter who you are, most people would have shot that buck in their backyard. Everybody loves to criticize, but 99 percent of hunters on here would have done the same thing. I am not in any way trying to make anybody mad, just stating the truth.
|
RE: Holy Hell
Which story is it? First it was a gun, now its a bow, is it going to bea slingshot from 3 milestomorrow ?
"This kid that goes to my school in southern indiana killed a 25 point. He was walking in from hunting and it was fighting a concreate deer in his grandmas back yard so he shoots from 70 yds hits it in the leg the concreate thing falls on it traps it then he goes up to it and smokes it wow. Ill try to get some pics up. " |
RE: Holy Hell
ONE PIS___ of deer
|
RE: Holy Hell
I'm not saying that it wasn't a nice deer. To me it would be the same thing as shooting a buck tangled in a barb wire fence. I just don't think I could have shot it.
|
RE: Holy Hell
I would have shot the crap out of it.
|
RE: Holy Hell
Hey the guy was coming in from hunting, when I leave my stand and walk back to camp I'm not kicking rocks and whistling, I'm still hunting till its time to unload before stepping into camp. If I came upon a a buck like that on the way to camp I'm shooting him. From the story I gathered that the deer was not entangled until he was hit the first time, maybe I'm wrong.
|
RE: Holy Hell
"Lord, thank you for this deer I'm about to receive that you've allowed to get entangled in this barbed wire fence. Amen!!!"
Trapped under a concrete deer, caught in a barbed wire fence, hung up in a clothes line (or any other such scenario) all seem perfectly legal to me and I'd take advantage of each opportunity (within the limits of the law) to put meat in the freezer. |
RE: Holy Hell
I still think its a bunch of crap. Where ya lose me is how the buck got caught under the concrete deer. Seems kinda fishy to me.Was it a60 or70yard bow shot?Your friend must be either one lucky sun of a gun or one heck of a shot. Only thing I can say about the photos is that photoshop is a wonderful thing. In one post you say25 points and in this one you say 20 points. In the first you said it "smoked" the deer, I took the meaning to be that he finished it off in one shot but this post says 3 shots up close. I'm not saying it isn't a nice deerbutI'd have to witness it to believe what you say happened.

RE: Holy Hell
I would have made up a story about the complicated grunt and rattling sequence I used along with a decoy and drug him out in the trees to make it look better.
|
RE: Holy Hell
so what i am hearing here is no one on this site has ever stretched the truth when retelling a deer story? yeah right! fact is you have a young hunter with a monster on the ground, i coud really care less if he used a pea shooter at 500 paces to knock him down! as for inhuntr your tellin us that you are returning from hunting gear in hand and at the ready and the deer like that is standing their, just because it is in the backyard you wouldn't shoot it. lets really lookat who isn't telling the truth. even if the lawn ornimant is a lie i give him credit for being creative! happy hunting to all and may the lawn ornament god's hold em long enough till ya get a shot off!
|
RE: Holy Hell
Man thats awesome for sure
|
RE: Holy Hell
I would've shot it without hesitation. That buck right there might keep that kid interested in hunting for the rest of his life. Who knows. I would like to know if it was a bow kill or rifle kill b/c the story and pic is a little misleading. Nonetheless, Anybody who says they wouldn't shoot it is just lying through your teeth. Just say congrats and move on.
|
RE: Holy Hell
Oh ok, so it wasa bow kill. Looked and read the story again. Good Job buddy.
|
RE: Holy Hell
I would have shot that buck in a heatbeat and not think twice about it(even if the story was false, whatever). You guys who say you wouldn't shoot it, probably haven't been in that situation.

RE: Holy Hell
Is this for real what a lucky sob I have never heard of such a thing
|
RE: Holy Hell
what part of southern indiana was this deer killed in?
|
RE: Holy Hell
I would have attacked with any weapon I had available! Garden hose, yes! Truck at 25 mph, yes! The shadow choke, yes!
|
RE: Holy Hell
I see the concrete deer is on a flat base. Looks like the bucktryed to scoop the fake deer and got his rack tangled between the deer and base and struggled for a bit, thus the bare dirt surrounding the fake deer. Now the deer getting his rack stuck in such a spot after being shot seem a bit far-stretched as the only thing that deer would have doneafter being shot is run away, not stuck his head under a lawn ornament! Looks to me like he was stuck and trying to free himself when the 'hunter' found him and proceeded to shoot. Awesome buck in any case.
|
RE: Holy Hell
I would have shot it no questions asked. The only thing that really bothers me about the whole deal is that it took him 4 shots to kill it. I might have left that part out along with the 60 yard shot in the leg.
Hell of a deer at any rate. Paul |

AH, so youre saying you would let a deer suffer in a fence and die? Well my brother found a deer tangled in a fence once.. it had a broken leg. SO HE SHOT IT and put it out of its misery. I would have done the same thing. |
RE: Holy Hell
I am saying if there is any chance that the deer would survive I would try and release it. If it was obvisouly dying or would be in pain after I let it outthen I would probably shoot it.
|
RE: Holy Hell
How every the deer was killed its still an awesome buck. And yes if that thing was in my backyard fighting a cement deer or what ever I would put an arrow though it end of story.
|
RE: Holy Hell
I hope he ran out and bought some lottery tickets because it was his LUCKY DAY!

RE: Holy Hell
Any hunter who says he wouldn't have shot it would also say he would "turn down" Jennifer Aniston...I wouldn't believe him either.....Nor would I want to associate with him...

If his story is correct, then he is the one at fault for injuring the deer to begin with for taking a shot that was out of range. Sorry if you don't agree with me, but it was an unethical kill. He got lucky as heck that the deer got itself trapped under the lawn ornament. I've seen the same thing with people trying to kill deer at300 yds with high powered rifles and then gut shooting them or leg shooting them. I gotta go with Inhunter on this one. It was an unethical shot and the deeer could have just easily run off and died some where from the leg shot. I would like to know where in southern indiana though. |
RE: Holy Hell
I'll say that is a long shot with a bow. However it depends on who's behind it. Guy I work with tagged a doe at 68 yards and she made it about 40 yards. Me I dont feel comfortable past 40 yards just yet. Now...if I saw that in my backyard though he'd be deader than the grass under my bassboat. And yes being a backyard we dont know what was behind him, i.e. vehicles etc but if I saw that deer feeding directlyinfront of my '06 GMC. I'd probably just call my truck a necessary casualty.
|
RE: Holy Hell
There is no doubt in my mind that I would take advantage of the situation and stick that mother #^$*@#.

RE: Holy Hell
Nice buck, a stupid one, but nice!
