RE: Best tracking dogs?
I know that around here people make great side money to get their dogs and and track one for you. That is not why I want something but I think it would be fun to have a dog that could help you or your buddies out with recovering a deer you may not without a dog. There is not a worse feeling than knowing that you shot an animal and couldn't recover it!

RE: Best tracking dogs?
Daschunds do make great tracking and lap dogs. She keeps her nose to the ground quite diligently.
My lab has a bad habit of getting on the wrong track, usually my scent instead of the blood. |
RE: Best tracking dogs?
For blood trailing, why you need a Blood Hound, of coarse. lol.
Actually any of the hound breeds would do a good job, but Dachshunds are one of the best for that. |
RE: Best tracking dogs?
I have a Weimeraner/Lab (Labmeraner) mix that I just started training to track. So far, she's taken to it quite well, even though she's only 11 months old. I had a mini dachshund that would follow any trail you put him on, and dig the critter up if need be, so those would be a choice as well.
