anyone have suggestions on what slug to use? I have a 20g870 smoothbore so it will have to be rifled, but I dont get the difference in weight. what do you get out of a heavier slug compared to a lighter slug? and is there any brands I should stay away from?

Had one Gun that the Shop messed up just before Season. It was shooting a foot and half to the left.I didn't have time to get it fixed. But I went on to kill 5 Deer that season with it.

I have used modified with some Sabot slugs and they have worked great as well. I was shooting a twelve guage with a 30inch barrel and they shot well for me. You should be able to get 60 - 65 yards out of it ok. Good luck to you and your hunting...

A 20 ga actually shoots flatter than a 12ga, the lead weighs less. With asteady aim you should be able to reach out to a hundredyards. If you have screw in chokes I wouldfirst tryan improved cylinder if you don'tyour modifyshould be fine too. If I were you I'm not sure I would buy any rifled slugs, they are meant for rifled barrels, I think it would be a waste of money for you. I would probably pick up 2 3/4" remingtons or winchesters slugger. You can get at walmart about $2.50 or $3 a box. Once you find brand of slugthat shoots consisently makesure you stickwith it because theydon't all shoot the same. Good luck.
