Default RE: What is the best time to get into the woods?

I'm a new hunter and wanted to know what is the best time to get into the woods inthe morning?

My preferance is to be instand 1 hour before light, just to let everything settle, but I wouldnt be afraid to even after light as the deer by me dont move much in light until 8am. But since your a beginner be set up aleast 30 mins before light.

Also we are in a Blind is that ok?
Watch your movement but its doable.

How long do you stay in the woods?
Since your in a blind it should be a bit easier to stay all day than in a stand, just stay as long as u can, and I wouldnt even think about getting out before 10 or 11.

And how do I get the deer into the woods?

better question is how do you get yourself into the woods undetected.

Any help would be grately appreaited. Im using a Crossbow. Can you help with my questions. Also can deer smell you?

Deer can smell you and thats an understatement.

what do you do?
Be as scent free as possible, but it still wont save u, play the wind.

I do most of My hunting out of climbing treestands. Sun-up til sun-down. Sometimes 14 hours a day. I hunt mostly public ground, and You gotta get there early to be successful. Gotta give the woods at least an hour before first light to settle down.

Most of the regs I have read do not allow crossbows. Make sure you check that.

I'm usually in my tree 1/2 hour before daylight.

1/2 hour before sunlight, any sooner I tend to get cold and impatient by the time the deer start to move, and I always stay until it is completely dark so that the deer don't know what is there if there is any around.

like a lot of people i try to get there 1/2 hour before legal hunting light which for me is 1/2 hour before dawn
also dont worry about being on the ground. i dont even have a blind and i just set up on the ground at the base of a tree. took a nice 8point buck at 25yards thsi year. had numerous deer within that range, and some closer like 10 ft. not one noticed me. now im not a master of disguise or anything neither am i a master hunter, this was my second year. watch your movement, and all will fall into place
