Looks alot like a Sika deer. I killed a stag on Friday. But never saw a doe so dark. One way to tell if its a sika is if it has K9's like a elk. Whitetail do not. There are different breeds of sikas. Here's a sika.

Who has the longer face...the deer or the friend?
Sure is a good looking deer though. Bow ain't bad either, looks fun.

Ihave heard of melanistic deer, but no, I have never seen one and likely never will. I did some research and found that a black deer is much rarer than an albino or piebald. There seems to be a pocket of melanistic deer in central Texas, but other than that they are just freaks of nature, with one popping up here and there once in a while.

Its melanistic its a one in a million chance and a hundred times less likely than an albino but there are a few in Texas from what I have read. Albinos are caused by a lack of pigment in their body melanistic are coused by the opposite an over abundance of it.
This is a picture from an article I read.

It is a fallow button buck. Trust me, worked on an exotic ranch north west of San Antonio fora few months. They come in colors ranging from black to white.
