Question on Processing price fairness?

Everything sounds pretty reasonable except the deposit. I have been hunting since 1978, I have used three different processors over that time period, I have never had to pay a deposit to have a deer processed.

I can get a field dressed deer cut up, wrapped and frozen for $45 and another $10 to skin it. At $55 to drop off a field dressed, unskinned deer and pick up a couple of boxes of wrapped, frozen, ready for the freezer deer meat is a good deal in my book. No deposit required, either.

They probably charge a deposit to cover all the SOBs that don't pick up their deer. It's more common than you might think and the processor can't sell the meat so he is stuck with it.
