Beginner Hunter Guns..
 

I'm beginner hunter and was just wondering what a good begginner Rifle and Shotgun would be? As of right now I use my cousins guns but I'm looking into gettin my own. And I'll be going Deer hunting for my first time in December.. Should I harvest a doe or wait for the "right" buck to come along?

myself i like a 25-06 but on the question on whether to shoot a doe or buck all i can tell you that i was happy with my doe that was my first deer

I use a .270 Savage and it is a great/accurate gun. It has a reasonable price tag on it too. As far as what to shoot, take whatever you are able to get a goos clean shot at and is a decent size. Good luck.

I also use the Savage 270. It is a very good shooting gun. That is definitely what I would recommend. But, a Rifle is only as good as the scope attached. Spend a little more money on a quality scope. That will make a huge difference. IMHO

Rem 700 .270 with a Bushnell Elite 4200 3x9x40 on it. I'm assuming the shotgun is a bird gun so a 870 pump with assorted screw in chokes would be a good starter.

It really depends on alot of things. how old you are? What your budget is? How good a shot you are? what the hunting conditions will be? what your average shot will be? As far as shotguns go, the 870 Remington is a great gun. You could get one with a slug barrel. There accurate out to about 80-90 yds. As far as centerfire rifles, personally i started with single shot .243. Great gun for every thing from ground hogs to deer within 200 yds. I've killed deer with it as far out as 300 yds, but was lucky as H3LL. Out side of that 30-30 is a great cartridge out to 150 or 200 yards if that is your average shot. Alot of the guys that I hunted with through high school used and lived by the 3006 and 270. both are great flat shooting cartridges. Like the other guys in this room, I recommend the 270. Been thinking about getting one my self. My personal favorite deer gun is .50 caliber muzzleloader. I've killed plenty of deer with them and in all types of conditions. I picked my newest one up for just under $200 dollars and picked off a nice doe with last at 130 yds. Thats my say. Hope i helped. BTW you may want to find out what types of fire arms are legal for your state before selecting a gun. I'm in Indiana and we are only allowed to use shotgun and muzzleloader, but kentuck, the other state i hunt, allows centerfires.

I have been hunting for 4 years and i started off with a .35 special but i moved to a semi auto 30 ought 6 this is a great beginner gun

if you have a small frame 223 or 243 rifle bigger frame 270 or 30-06. as for a shot gun small frame 20 guage big frame 12 guage. would reccomend winchester rifle or mosseber or winchester shotguns.

I use a Ruger M77 in .270

A beginner may want to start with something with a little less kick. A .243 would be a good option.
