So I have a pretty good area for hunting this year....I think[8D]But I am wondering where do I set up first: in the field where they eat or where they get their water. My gut is going with water, but where do the deer go first?

I would stick with food sources..You never know it could be water were they are bedding anyways alot of trees hold water too..Go with fields first then when they figure out youre hunting them go the heavy brush..Happy hunting in 07'

I agree go with the food source, especially if it is baited. On most land there is ample sources of water from creeks, ponds, small water holes etc.. Baited food sources are unique and keeps them coming to that exact location.

How many times have you seen deer at a water hole as compared to feeding? Hunt the food sources

I think it depends on how much water is around.

Not for sure if it is true, but I have heard that a deer can survive off of moisture and dew that they get from their forage.

Food, they can get water by licking it off vegitation. I used to hunt on land fairly close to a pond, I NEVER saw deer at the pond. They were always browsing the field instead.

I have a test for you, put a bucket of water out, then a bucket of corn. See which one they go for or which attracts more animals.

Paul...I dont know about that right now..As dry as it is they might take the bucket of water with them...
