Default apples to attract

I have heard of people busting apples up and rubbing the scent on trees and things around their stand. Does this work year round or just in apple season. I am just afraid that if I do this there will all of a sudden be a strong apple scent where there usually isn't and it will spook the deer. Is this the case or can I put them out whenerver I want to.

I have done this and it does work well. Deer are curious animals and there purpose in life is to live. If they smell something that they can eat they will check it out.

Deer love apples.

My grandfather has many apple trees in his back yard. Every year he gathers the apples up that go unused and throughs them on the edge of his timber. The deer feed there all year round or until the apples are gone.

Even after they are gone they will return looking for apples.

Please remeber that this area is located in the city limits and is not hunted.

Bucky,
The deer here like apples but I dont use them very often. I do use apple juice in a driper.
Did not spook them when I started but when I used Hog wild it did take them a little while to get use to that.
