The 165 grain must be a 30 caliber. As far as I know there has never been a 165 grain 277 bullet. I could be wrong but I never heard of it. Nosler makes a 160 Partition. Barnes used to make a 180 but No longer does.

I have reloaded some 160 gr 270 ammo and was quite impressed (at the range anyway). I never tried them on game.

I killed a elk and a deer with 150gr. On Elk 150 is the only way to go on deer the preformance didn't overly impress me. Just a small entrance and exit very little internal damage and the deer ran 120yd with a chunk missing out of the top of theheart and a hole through the bottom of the lung.I downgraded to 130gr. Right now im shooting my handloads with 130gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, I have yet to fire them on game.

For deer I use a 130 gr Nosler Accubond. I like it for the flatter trajectory in open country. I would use the 150 if I thought I might stumble into a legal elk.

I had to use the 130s on a big bear last year. I put two rounds into him, the first was adequate, but the second dropped him. My .300 win mag 180'swould have liquidated him on the first tap.

I took my first buck this year; used a 130 gr. Winchester Ballistic tip. Good results. Took my first doe with a 150 gr. Winchester XP3. Way too much bullet. Nosler is now selling "custom" loaded ammo. Their 270 round is a 140 gr. Accubond. Groups better than any other ammo I've tried. They say it's hand loaded by Nosler tech. Expensive, but I'll know if it's worth it when deer season gets here.

The SD of the 130 grain bullet is more than enough for deer and even suitabe for bigger game. The SD (sectional Density) of the 130 grain 270 bulley is about the same as the 165 grain for the 30 caliber. The 270 would perform well on deer with a 120 grain bullet as does the 7mm-08 and 6.5x55. I Like a bullet with an SD of 210-250 for deer. I seem to get the most Bang Flop kills with those bullets in all calibers.
