I do hunt hogs with a open sighted Blaser R-93 in 308, but I can't see well enough to shoot accurately past 50-60 yards.
For deer, I use the same Blaser R-93 in 308, but I put a Swarovski 3-9x36 in a set of Blaser quick detach mounts on the gun. I have never hunted with a spear, but I have used a Cold Steel Trailmaster on hogs (which I would not recommend without some dang good "catch" dogs).

What do you hunt with the 22-250 Winchester listed in your signature?

using a scope is cheating? your kiddin me right... thats like sayin any compound bow is cheating... ...honest opinion less deer are gonna be injured by "bad" shots with a scope vs someone not using one..not sayin anyone who doesnt use a scopewoundsa deer everytime you shoot but over all deer after deer year after year i would say a scoped gunwould have less deer gettin away

I hunt in ML season with open sights and when I use my shotgun during regular firearms season. I only started hunting with a scope 4 years ago, so did without for a good number of years. Also like Rebel Hog, lots of experience through the military with open sights.

I bow hunt a lot, got into ML again this year. I use Fiber optic open sights. And enjoy it immensely.
