Default Deer carcass dumping

I'm new to hunting, and was wondering why I keep seeing deer carcasses (skin and bones) dumped on the side of the road. I found two carcasses right at the entrance to an area I was scouting for muzzleloader season.

When I clean fish streamside, I put the fish innards back in the stream to provide nutrients for other living creatures in the stream. Could this be an explanation, or is just another case of a minority of hunters being thoughtless and lazy? Thanks.

My bet is laziness. Although where I hunt, the coyotes take care of anything beside bone pretty quick.

I've seen this several times in the many years I've been hunting. It has never really bothered me too much, BUT. Now with the threat of CWD spreading across the country, I think it's time to stop this. Our landfill won't take dead animals (or parts) so maybe we should dig a big hole or make a big fire to dispose of the leftovers. Jim

Once the carcass is stripped of meat, it would be simple for you to put what is left in a small hole. But this is too much to ask of most hunters, and yes yotes usually take care of what is left. Or in your case Timbercruiser, Gators. This kind of thing happens all the time and it isa shame that if it is going to be done, that they do not put it in an out of the way spot for varmits to devour.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave

I agree with everyone,it show's no respect to the sport. We give our hide's to a local guy and as far as the bones go we take them back to a swail on our property the foxes, bobcat's and what ever else that chew's on them make's short work out of it.I think they should pass a law on it and even lose hunting privlage's for a year and a fine.I can about imagine how the anti's think about it and it give's them something else to stomp there feet about

Find a guy with a dog sled team. Fortunately, (and unfortunately) I have one right next door. He takes any bones and scraps I have left over.

But to answer your question: Thoughtless and lazy. At least take them back into the woods.

I don't want to belabor my point, but driving down a main road near my home yesterday, I saw yet another carcass dumped directly on the road side in plain view. I am biased being a hunter, but I can see how a site like that could turn my neighbors into anti-hunting advocates, and use incidents like that as ammunition for their anti-hunting campaign. Please, either bury the carcass or drag it to some place that is not on full public display! Thanks.

I live in ny so sometimes the ground is to frozen to dig, I take mine way out in the woods and let nature do the rest. Once when my wife and I where hiking in the woods I found a big garbage bag(lawn and leave type). We where 200-300 yards into the woods, well curiosity got the best of me so I opened the bag you quessed it full of deer parts(smelled great<img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>) I dumped the animal parts a through out the bag.

I recently saw a complete carcass that was beheaded on the side of the road. Kinda disappointing to see people do stuff like that.
