RE: Side arms a'field???

During the firearms season I often carry a S&W Mdl 29 or a Dan Wesson in .357. I have killed one deer with the .44 mag. I carry a handgun just because I can.
I am sure that someday soon my right to own or hunt with a handgun will be gone due to the liberal masses that inhabit Maryland. So for the present time I take advantage of the opportunity.

I don't carry a sidearm, but I do always have my
pepper/bear spray. I wear it on my belt,so
it's always close at hand.

I dont own a handgun but if it were legal for me to carry one while bowhunting, I would be out purchasing one right now and a box of shells that would have coyote written all over them.

I carry a "back of the truck" gun. It's a stevens 20ga single shot. Along with a short, handy, fishing pole. They make a great pair, when I pass a stream or something, I just get out and fish it, and the 20ga comes in handy when I'm camping for getting small game for the pot and self defence.

Here in NC it's illegal to carry during bow or muzzleloader but ok during rifle. Sometimes I carry my Ruger .40 while hunting but it or my .380 are in the truck at all times. I do have a concealed permit and carry the .380 on me most of the time. As far as them getting stolen from the truck, I have pictures and serial numbers on all my guns and that is what insurance is for. If stolen, they can be replaced unlike my Belgium made Browning .22 that was handed down from my grandfather. That one is kept under lock and key.

"do you carry a side arm?" - Not while hunting. It's illegal in MA. When not hunting I do carry one like a wallet.

"what kind/caliber?" - A S&W 9mm or a Ruger 38 Special

&quot;your reason?&quot; - Don't trust anyone.<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

&quot;have you ever been in a situation to use it?&quot; No, thankfully.

I usually carry my .44 mag Ruger Super Blackhawk 7.5&quot; barrel on my hip when I'm hunting along with my Ruger M77 .30-06. I really want to take a deer with it, but haven't yet. I usually carry it so I can sling my rifle when I get into thick stuff where the wheelgun would have the advantage. I sometimes carry my .45 acp on my hip when I'm hunting, because I hunt some cougar country, and walk out at 4:30 in the morning, with no one expecting me back until dark again anyway. I asked a local ranger if he'd grudge me for that, but he said it was cool, and that he wouldn't go afield without a fast shooter either.

When I'm at home, rural KS, I usually carry my .44 on my hip (no cc in KS), mostly because it's my right and for looks. When I'm at Manhattan, KS, go K-state!!, I don't carry because people get freaked out and always call the cops on me, even if I'm legally carrying. I also always have a pistol in my truck, just a Ruger MKII .22lr, for whatever reason, mostly for shooting skunks or to kill a deer if I ever hit one with my truck (plan ahead and it won't happen ya know). When I go to the big cities though, I upgrade it to my .45 1911, never know what's gonna happen. I started carrying them because I had reason to on a couple occasions, and have only had to draw one once since I started (two years), with no further retaliation required.

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!
