On their backs? About where their shoulder blades come up and just behind sometimes. Not too big but tennis ball to grapefruit sized bare skin. I shot a deer 2 years ago that had this and many deer on the Outdoor Channel on various shows have this phenomenon.

Never saw that, but I have seen many bucks that have hair rubbed off of their briskets..Breeder bucks they are...lots of activity rubbing the hair off their chests from mounting does....
And those does...if you see one that passes by look at the hair directly behind the sholder blades...if it scruffed up...stand by...she's been mounted quite a bit and Mr. Buckey will not be far behind...

I don't think it's fences otherwise why aren't there any antelope with this bare skin? They always go under year around rather than leap. It's not mangy either as the spots are clean skin.

Being a taxidermist and seeing alot of bucks, this way, it looks as if it is from rubbing their antlers on their back ? I've never seen it on small racks nor spikes .
I shall check into it more, now,i just never paid any mind to it !<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>
