Man it is good. Like you say slice, get rid of some membrane. Always the first thing I eat. If you havn't tried, you should. To me it is as good as backstrap!!! Again, do not freeze. Just simple fry in butter.Do not overcook.
It also great pickled.I have never found anyone that didn't like that, once they try.

Do you have to clean out all the valves and such? I've heard it is great, but a lot of work for just a little meat.

Bowflex

It is absolutely delicious! Believe it or not, the valves are really only on the top portion. Just cut those out, remove any outer membranes, and the rest is solid meat. Not alot of work at all,and it's a pretty good sized meal.
For breakfast with a couple eggs, it's awesome.
You guys really don't know what you're missing, for me, it's the best part!

I never have, but am planning on it. A buddy collected up all the hearts from a doe hunt we did back in January and he convinced me to try it out.
So, next season I will have to give it a try.

I eat about half of the hearts from the deer we kill and they are great sliced and floured fried in butter. There as good a any part of the deer.

It is one of the traditions of my hunting group. After killing the deer, the nads get hung in a tree and the heart gets chowed the same night.
Just make sure your not hanging the heart in a tree and chowing down on the nads [:'(][8D]
