Default For the mad men of December

I recently saw a magazine article with that title and found it fitting. With the primary rut come and gone in most places (except the deep south), gun season come and gone in many places, temperatures reaching the lowest of the season, why would anyone hunt this time of year??
Because some of us know that the bucks are still there, hungrier than ever and there are still a few hot does out there too. And at this time it is never more true that
"A hunter will do anything for a buck"
I tagged some of my best bucks in December while hunting over food, they are still there, just be careful grabbing their antlers late in the season (they might come off)
For the mad men (and women) of December, please submit your late season experiences on my sighting survey ( http://www.thehunterseye.com/sightin...tingsurvey.htm )
Maybe together we can come up with some good information on the least understood month of the year.

I love this time of the year. I do a lot of bow hunting. Our bow season opens at the end of September, and it just doesnt seem right hunting in warm weather. I will only shoot a doe during the warm months just for the sake of haveing some meat. I then wait until the cold weather hits. I just love getting out on a cold snowy day.

VAhunter, I hunt in NC near the VA/NC border and last year our club didn't even kill a buck til 12-8. By the end of the season we had 4 wall hangers.

Stop making me jealous James Vee! Did you die and go to the deer hunter's happy hunting grounds? I wish I could go hunting every day.

Up here 30 days in rifle season is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to short!!! I'd like to see a 1 deer /calander year, ok 2 tops buck and a dry doe. This way you could take a doe for meat in the bank then wait and see if the ig guy shows up??

Unlike some of you lucky guys that can take up to as many as what?....10-12 deer? sure would be nice thats for sure!!

This was not written to sligh anyone just wishn i could hunt longer and take a few bigger buck....<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hunt for the sport, share the outdoors and most of all be safe and enjoy it......know your
back stop when shooting!!
