..Well i just had to try my 243 for whitetail,shot a huge 6
pointer today at about 120 yards with 100 grain power point
rem-core lokt,he ran at least 150 yards with a clean pass
threw lung shot...for me that is to far..i will stick with
my 25-06...just a report..yes i did get the buck after the track.

I have had the same thing happen with a 7mm mag ,a lung shot usually don't put one right down has been my experience. It wasn't the size of the gun ,but where you shot him would be my guess .

try the Winchester PSP,they give a little more shock.through the lungs leaves more to eat.through the shoulder they don't go as far,but a lot of lost meat.
A friend went with me yesterday and took a nice 8pt with 7mm mag.took out lungs a pieace of heart. he ran a good 80 yards befor going down.

..Thanks gang,i guess ive been lucky as far as them going
down quick,as far as 243 caliber,im only speaking for myself
and not another,if you hunt with this round that is your business
but ive never seen a deer run that far...thanks for coments.....

my brother did a perfect double lung on a doe at 12yards (yes thats a 12), while sitting on the ground with his muzzelloader (300gr hollowpoint over 100gr BP) and the 140lb doe ran 300 yards. the shot was a perfect double lung shot (i know i gutted it) but it ran all that way. just goes to show you never can tell
