got my mount back!!
#23
I decided to go out that day at about 3 pm and when i got to my stand i told my self that i wanted to hunt a differnt area of the property,so i just took off walking down the hollow until i found a good open spot and sat down on top of the ridge up agianst a oak, watching the other side.It started getting dark and i thought to my self that i wasn't going to see nothing and that i shold of stayed in my stand,And about that time i heard something coming throught the woods (sounded like a horse) and it was coming straight towards me off of the other side of the hollow and i could not see him until he was 25 yards away.He was coming into my doe in heat scent that i had put out cause he had his nose to the ground the whole time he was coming in (funny thing is the wind wasn't even blowing towards the way he came in).But anyway when i did finally see him he was 25 yards away and was directly below me facing me and all i had was a shot between the shoulder blades,so i took it and with the bark of my 30-06 he floped on the ground never took a step.I never could find an enter or exit wound on him but i seen blood.I was shooting 180 powerpoints.I dont know if he was so close the bullet went through and didn't expand or what. But any way i had no idea that he was that big i honestly thought he was a spike,so when i got to him i got weak in the knees and fell down.

the best thing about a mount is that you can look at it and remember how cold it was, where the wind was blowing from, and what the air smelled like that day.
well atleast, thats me. looking at my mounts brings back the most vivid memories.
