I went with dad and other family members for birds starting at age 2. Was a staple by 5 on all bird hunts and 9 biggame hunting. Legal age here is 12 and that was my first of 26 years with my own licenses in my pocket.

I was walking with Dad as long as I can remember started carying my own gun at age 12. I didn't deer hunt until I was 22 and in the Navy back in 76. We really didn't have any deer here at home to speak of. I shot my first deer in 1985 so I was 31 years old a little button Buck but bou was I happy got the monkey off my back and have been pretty successful ever since. Even now at home where there once was no deer. We have plenty now.

I started squirrel hunting when I was five. I started deer hunting when I was thirteen. In the early 70's most didn't start deer hunting until they were twelve or thirteen, at least in our area. Now I hear about six year olds hunting deer and I have to wonder if they will be like my nephew and get to college age and lose interest?
