what now?
i have a buck rack the butcher cut off my first buck...i plan to buy an antler mounting kit to put it on the wall..i dont want to really boil it because i dont have anything to use or anything...right now im thinking bleach water using boiling water and let it soak till tomarow then work what i can off then clean it up..will that work pretty good? i wont be getting any on the antlers in fear of bleaching them...as high as i can withouth touching them though....will that work?? thanx

When I boil my antler's I use one of the biggest kettle's in the kitchen and do it on the stove top,The wife isn't home at the time<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
If you are soaking them in the bleach water,Don't use very much bleach other wise you might soften the bone to much.

Mauser, I usually just get as much of the hide and hair off the skull, then let it soak for a couple of days in warm salt water. When I change the water I will try and peel off any loose stuff. Never tried the bleach trick. Yes boiling works as well but is a little time consuming and messy.

uht oh im gunna run to the garage and dump that water out...i put alot of bleach in! i will just boil more water and use plain water that is boiling and let it soak and cool all night till after skool tomarow then goto work on it then do it again to get the rest...thanx..

ok...if i soak it in water that was boiling for about 15 hrs..(alreayd soaked in bleach water for 2 and hide peeling up and eyes drained and stuff already) without water touching the antlers at all will it be ok? i will just die if the antler fall out or something like that...what should i do? i would like to get it pretty cleaned tomarow and buy the kit and get it on my wall..should i just wait and try to cut it out and off to be safe or soaking in boiling water that will kool over night wont harm it just get all the crap off and out of it?? thanx alot im worried to death!
