RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
Im color blind,at least thats what the military told me.I dont know if i can spot game fast because of it or just because i am always in the woods. But sometimes i realy have to point out game that fellas with normal colorvision cant see.I dont have trouble with orange. Its almost 3D to me.Blood is a challange.so i use grim reapers and deer pile up inside of 50 yds.

RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
"Colorblindess" has a wide range of variance of which colors can be clearly distinguish. Somewhere around 12% of all male population has some level of colorbindness. Even those with colorblindess, most have a totally normal vision of 98% of all colors and variations. Some have trouble distinguishing between suttle differences the same colors of red, green or blue. Few have the extreme cases like what you're describing.
So, you're using very inprecise language and failing to distiguish between minimal colorbindness (poor terminalogy) and complete colorblindness. It sort of like you're blind to distinctions that over inflate the extent of the problem. And as is already said, even the most extreme cases of not seeing bright colors clearly doesn't mean someone can't distinguish man from deer. |
RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
Yeah I see. OK - I can't see colors and I never have been able to. I have learned what primary colors are based onshading, but theinterior decorator colors mean nothing to me. Maybe this is why I smell them before I see them - people also.

know your target and beyond.

RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
I am colorblind as well and have proved myself as a very avid hunter.
Pretty hard to mistake a hunter for a deer. People like that need to stay out of the woods. Tip for my colorblind friends who have to track....... Watch your game as long asyou can, go to the last spot you are sure it was. A spray bottle filled with peroxide set on mist and start spraying the ground. It will bubble white and any colorblind person will be able to see this. A light mist is all that is required and continue on. It takes longer to do this way than someone who can see blood but, it's better then leaving an animal. |
RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
There is no excuse for mistaking a 2 legged animal for a 4 legged animal, colorblind or else!
I also agree that it is a poor "not really my fault" excuse! |

ORIGINAL: JagMagMan There is no excuse for mistaking a 2 legged animal for a 4 legged animal, colorblind or else! I also agree that it is a poor "not really my fault" excuse! What about the person that isin a tree or on the ground 100 yards past what you are shooting at.If that person is next to a tree on the next property,in the woods, can you see him without orange. No you can not, that is why rifles are not allowed turkey hunting. You can be sure of your target and THINK you are sure of what is behind it. I have been in this situation and if it wasn't for the orange, there is a good chance he would be in harms way. This is a good reason NOT to hunt 10 yardsoff the property line like this person was doing. Well within his rights but it is dangerous.;) I don't pretend to know the particulars of this case, maybe it was stupidity but people need to reserve judgement untill ALL the facts are in. |
RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
i have hunted for years and i am almost completely color blind it just means that the colors don't get in my way. i have never had a problem seeing someone in the woods. if you don't know where you are shooting just don't take the shot. go back to school and learnhow to hunt.

RE: Color blind people going hunting?!?!?!?!
Just for a visual. This person is on your property line and you are 100 yards away.
I don't know how many can see orange or shades of orange that are color blind.BUT if you can not see orange or color at all,I don't know how you could see this person. I am not for banning a colorblind person at all, just that there needs to be precautions if you can't see orange. Now if the fact is the person got shot because he thought he was a deer, then he needs to be castrated.[8D] ![]() |
