Default What new hunting gear purchases...

during the offseason have you made so far? What purchases do you still plan to make?
Since the end of the season 12/31/06 in MN I have gotten a new summit bullet backpacker climber, a handheld thermacell, a standard size buddy heater, a nikon prostaff scope..mounts and rings for my savage ML, a TRU Ball copperhead XT release, and aHind site for my bow. I have only gotten to test out the buddy heater so far and nothing else yet. That is about $625 so far.
I still plan to get a new racheting breechplug/"EZ tool" for my savage ML and astring, quiver, stabilizer and broadheads for the bow this year as well. This is not even counting some more arrows, ammo, powder and assorted necessary clothing as the need arises.
I guess I end up spending some $, at least a fair amount of $ for me.
Anyone else care to share a bit on what they have gotten so far?

Since its kinda on the same subject, who usually has the best deals after season? More specifically climbing stands. That will be my first purchase after the season ends on Wednesday.

I really can't give you an answer as to who will have the best deals, but usually the box stores, such as Cabelas, Gander Mountain, etc...usually do have after season sales on things, so maybe keep a look out for sales. Cabels has their "Bargain Cave" on their website and seem to update it regularly, as it always seems to be a different mix of things whe I check it a couple times a week. I got my summit bullet packer climber @ Cabelas for $290. I am pretty sure that I could have gotten it cheaper at another time or a different place, but I can be a bit "impulsive" in buying things that I want!

I bought a Garmin GPS. I hope I can figure it out. Got a Nikon Monarch for my Marlin 444, can't wait to shoot a hog with it!

The only thing I have picked up for deer hunting so far this year was a new Gerber folding knife with the blaze Orange handle for old eyes to find in the snow.

Got a Bear bow. Need to save enough cash to get it set up though. Frickin casino's and dart tournaments keep taking all my money. I was hoping my tax return would help, but I only get back $20. That won't even pay for the gas to get to the pro shop. Might be a while before I can sling some arrows down range.

I've bought turkey supplies so far. the one thing I am going to spend some $ on is a good set of camo rainwear. Otherwise, I bought just about everything I needed this past year.

I have to say I just usually stick with what I got. It serves me well enough and new gadgets just turn out to be just that - gadgets.

Seeguys with these neat new little things that they put in their packs and they justmake their way to the bottom cause they never or rarely even get used. How much does anyone really need anyway?

Only thing I saw that got my intrest was the Menards up the street has some 15 or 16 ft 300lb capacity ladder stands for $60. Now I usually make my own but for $60? I might have to grab 1 or 2 to place down on the farm. Always a couple spotswe'd like to have a stand in already. We really place stands for good. Rarely do they move - we just add more.

What do I buy every year? More ammo.
