Default Real Nice!

So all in all I have had a a great season. I killed 8 and my dad and a couple of other guys I hunt withon a regular basis all had good success. Ihad planned on just coasting through to the end of the season. So I decided to slip over to the club yesterdayto hunt with some of the fellas,
not expecting very much activity. All was going well until around 0930 whena monster crossed the path I was covering at about 35-40 yards. Well I missed him, and now I get to sit and think about that for the next 9 months. Replay it over and over and over again. Think about all of thethings I should have done different. So I will sit and marinate on those thoughts and the image of that buck and that rack slipping away. Kind of a bitter sweet end to the season butthat's why it is called hunting not killing. Whatever the case it has certainly fueled my fire for next season.

8?? Thats a nice haul for the year. Just think if he makes it through the rest of the season he'll be a better buck next year. And if thatdoesn't keep your fuel fired for the next nine months somethings wrong. Great season you had, my god I don't know I'd do with 8 in the freezer. I guess eat deer everynight.

You must have quite a few doe tags? Take the miss for what it is, just one miss.

We all miss... but it is a terrible feeling to end the season with one because you will dwell on it for the next 10 months and doubt yourself... regardless of how successful your season was. I can relate, to a point. The last push on the last day of muzzleloader I missed a nice doe... I know it is not a rack buck, but just not the way I wanted to end it. It wasn't a tough shot either... I just whiffed...
I took 4 this season and should be and am very happy, but that miss will linger the entire off season.

Thatsure is bitter sweet but look at it this way at least you got something to look forward to next season.
I would look for that monsters shed within a couple of weeks and do a little post season scouting for that bad boy .
If you can find where he's hanging around and where his "core " area is you might get the jump on him opening day next season.

Looks to be that you didn't really need him anyway. Congrats on a good season, good luck with him next year.
