I prefer to use the can but sometimes you just have to go in the woods.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Merry Christmas.

I also wonder if "the can" attracts animals other than deer. The two times I used it in bowhunting zones this year a fox got VERY close to me the first time (I could have tapped it on the head with a fishing pole) the first time and the second time a fox got within around 25-30 yards. Also, the second time, I believe it attracted a coyote (although I can't confirm because it was in some semi-thick grasses and I just saw the outline). I'm going out this friday and saturday and I'll keep you all posted.

I blow into the hole in the can to make the bleats longer. I have called in a couple coyotes and this year I called in a large, hungry boar bear. He was none too happy when he figured out I wasn't his next meal. And I in turn was none too happy when I shot a foot and a halfto the left of his center mass. How someone can miss a charging bear with a muzzle loading pistol at ten feet is still beyond me[:@]

I have tried it so many times that I have lost track. I still haven't had anything respond to it...except maybe a couple of squirrels that were close.
