This was my first bow kill buck, i shot it in 1994..I had seen this deer several times, he had a drop tine about 5-6 inches long on his right side, but as my luck would have it, broke it off...but definately wasnt complaining for my first bow kill buck.

MY FIRST WALL HANGER
I have been hunting Wisconsin's firearm season for 16 years and have never shot any deer (buck or doe) on opening morning until this year. I have practiced QDM with both gun and bow for the past 12 years,so I guess you could say I have been "picky". On opening morning at 7:16 CST this 8 point buck walked out of a thick swamp area 5 minutes after a small 6 pointer walked under my stand.
He was deeply grunting as he walked out. After a few minutes heturned broadside at 83 yards. I placed the cross hairs on his front shoulder and squeezed. (Thompson Center Omega .50 cal.). He hunched a bit and went about 50 yards before dropping. He weighed 246lbs on the hoof and green scored 135.
He's not record book, and I'm sure many of you would'nt mount him, but I have never shot anything this big before. It has really revitalized my interest in gun/deer hunting !!!!
