the story behind that buck is kinda cool, to me at least <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle> 'course everything about that buck is kinda cool to me. but anyway, i got him on the 17th of november, so a week ago today, it was the last day of our buck season here in SE minnesota. earlier in the day i hadnt seen anything and so my dad, brother and I decided to do a couple drives, during which i tripped in a plowed cornfield and bent my scope! of course i thought my day was over, so i went home and showed my neighbor who bent my scope back and reattached it. we then boresited it and i went back out. (stopped on the way out and shot at a cardboard box i put about 80 yards out in a field, the gun was right on)so i chose my spot, at the bottom of a large valley where the deer frequently travel. as the time went by i kindof drifted off, and as it was getting close to five oclock ( legal shooting hours went til about 10 after five) i figured i was done, but then i took one last look around before getting up (i was sitting along a fenceline) i saw him jump the same fence i was sitting on, right across a small creek. he walked about 20 yards and i figured it was now or never, i knew he was a nice one but i didnt know how nice. so i lined up and let one fly, next thing i know im following the blood trail to where i saw him fall over about 20 yards from where i shot him, of course he ran 20 yards farther away from the truck than he already was (but they always do that right?) when i found him i was, as you would expect, very excited. dragging him up hill to where the truck could get at him, was a chore in itself, but overall it was an awesome experience. Right now he's at the taxadermist, im getting him mounted. incase your wondering, he wieghed in at 185 field dressed, and scored a gross of 148.8, he had an 18.5 inch spread and the tallest tine, i think its the G2 was ten inches tall.

oh yea, 270man as far as i know, it was legal , haha.

i shot him with my mossberg 20 gauge pump, with a fully rifled canteliever scope mount barrel, bushnell 1.5-4.5x22mm scope, in my mind, this is one of the best guns for someone who is in a shotgun only zone, with the winchester partition gold slugs my gun shoots tighter groups than my friends benelli, at 100yards! and its taken down both bucks i've gotten right away, no screwin' around.
