Deer taken by illegal means? I would have to be 100% positive and have proof before I would start making any accusations like that.

Otherwise it's like a soap opera. I heard that he said that he heard that someone told them that so-and-so's aunt's uncle's friend's cousin was directly told.........

I have to agree with Timber, and Uncle Matt, Unless you are 100% positive that it was poached, I would not continue any rumors!
I know that at least one "world record" is a fake, but it seems that anytime a hunter takes a good buck, someone has to say that they poached it!
I am totally against poaching, but deer are free-roaming animals! If the buck was legally killed, you just got to take your hat off to the hunter that took it! Sounds like you had a couple of years to take him too!

We are still trying to get in touch with the land owner where the deer was supposedly killed, and IF the deer was killed illegally, there will be more than accusations made.

Remember during the rut bucks can travel up to 10 miles in one night. So if the person hunts withing that distance then it could have been legal

Yeap add me to the list....... Unless you have a nice fence to keep them in then it could have very well went to where a doe was in estrus on someone elses property and they got the fruits of your labor. That's hunting.

I'm always amazed at these "someone killed MY buck, so it MUST be a poacher" threads and the amount of sympathy everyone dishes out. Matt, Jag, and Serious seem to get it... that was not your deer. If you want to farm deer, get a high fence, they can jump high. Otherwise, suck it up, congratulate the guy who shot it and stop spreading rumors like an 8th grade cheerleader who got her boyfriend stolen. If it turns out the deer was poached, let the law handle it.

I am not saying that this was MY deer. I am full aware of how far deer travel rut or no rut, and the law WILL be handling this case. I know the guy that killed this deer, and he is a low life thug. I still don't know what time of day the deer was killed, but the deer was killed on POSTED land that he DID NOT have permission to hunt. My neighbor has done his homework and the land owner IS going to press charges. I fully intend to congratulate the guy that killed the deer as the game warden cuffs him.

If a "hunter" had taken this deer by legal means, this post would not exist. I don't begrudge anyone that kills a nice deer, but this is not the case.

RE: Bad News Today

Unless you know some facts that you have not shared with us here on this thread it is not enough to convince one that the anilmal was "poached". Here are a few questions:

1) Was the person setting in their vehicle when the animal was shot?
2) Was the person trespassing onto someone elses property when the animal was shot?
3)What means was the animal taken (ie. gun, bow, khife or hand)?
4) What time of day was the anilmal taken?
5) Was there any witnesses to the kill?
6) What date was the animal killed?
7) Did the person have proper licenses and permits?
8) Did they use proper carcass tags?
9) Was the animal registered/checked in appropriately?

Low life thug??????????? Explain the definition? Has this person been convicted of poaching in the past? ( Not charged but convicted) What criminal record does this person have that might link him to this sort of injustice? I guess perhaps Texas is a little too close to Mexico. Here in America people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of LAW.

I have shared all that I am sharing with the forum. I just received a call, and this matter is being "handled" as I type this post. The matter is closed.
