shoulder shot, cause if u hit them in the shoulder u break the shoulder and hit the heart or lungs and they cant walk cause their shoulder is broke!
It is impossible to hit the heart if you break their shoulder?? Plslook at the skeleton pic posted above and tell me where the heart lays inside the body cavity?? Cuz I always find it in the bottom of the cavity not the top under the spine!! BTW the shoulder or SCAPULA is the blade shaped bone!

No sheet I have a cabin at Big Shell and have hunted that area for years. This years was the worst yet for hunters!!! I guess being pretty close to toon, earlier season, doe tags and words getting around big deer at spiritwood = more pressure. Where abouts from Spiritwood were you hunting, may I inquire?? Not looking just curious..lol!
I think we're talking about 2 different Spiritwood's. I was referring to the area just west of Good Spirit Lake and it sounds like you're northwest from Saskatoon...just a few hundred clicks apart. [8D] lol, we don't get major hunting pressure like Saskatoon puts out....just hunters from Yorkton, Canora, Buchanan, etc...

Never heard like that before, 2 Spiritwood's hey! I hunt elk up near Danbury but never hunted much south of sturgis/preeceville line.

Good stuff and thanks for the geography lesson

Neckk shots are the dumbest thing you can do! It is such a smaller place to hit, and leads to wounded deer more than it leads to dead deer! I can believe people actually do this crap! Makes me sick!

only ifyou break both shoulders.A deer can run faster than you can even if it has one broken shoulder.

Bravo well said. Over on archerytalk their are quite a few bowhunters who believe in the neck shot. I got sick of arguing with them and gave up.

The right grain bullet and all you have is jello from both lungs. That deer isn't going no where.First buck I tookIhad the scope on 9 power and he was 25yrds away if that behind me.All I seen is hair and squeezed off.I just caught the lower neck useing a 30-30.He was down. The blood poured out of him so fast he was dry before he hit the ground.I have seen one shot whith an arrow before in the neck.It never died.A friend of mine shot one with an arrow stuckin it's neck before. It depends on the angle and if I got time to let it move around a bit for a better shot, Or if I have to take a neck shot if it's comming straight on to me or partly sticking out from behind a tree and spotted me.

With a rifle the neck shot is the majority of my shots. I keep them under a 100 yds, anything over that I will take the behind the shoulder shot.
You guys hunt the way you want to and I will hunt the way I want too. I have never ever wounded a deer with a rifle in 30 years of hunting.
I can make the shot and do so on a regular basis. I have no problem busting a squirrel in the head at 50 yds, so a neck shot is even easier. They are quick humane kills. Here in Texas we have some nasty brush country, every plant will stick you. Trying to track a deer in that stuff is bad news. Loaded with rattlers too. When I hunt with my bow its always a broadside shot behind the shoulders.
If you cant make the shot then dont, but dont tell me I cant. Like i said, I have never ever ever wounded a deer with a rifle, how about you ?
