Ok I am all set up in my stand and I am set up perfectly for all no scent rules and even lure scents. I take a nice Buck from my treestand. Now, will the scent of the harvested buck spook others from my area or can I put my son in the same stand and not worry about it?
Thank you very much in advance.

If it were me, I would drag the deer and field dress it away from the stand area, if I wanted to hunt it that day. I don't think it really does a lot to the deer, but the birds and yotes are a pain. Last week we would be gutting and the raven and pie's were already circling the site...they are noisy little buggers.

I have a brother (an expert hunter) who, just last week, harvested two very large bucks within 10 minutes of one another, from the same stand (in southwest Michigan). Talk about a short hunt! He said he was lowering his gun before he climbed down to start the field-dressing process on the first buck when he heard a noise.....

I would not worry about it either. A couple of years back as my dad was field dressing his buck another younger buck came running in, grunting the whole way, stopping a mere thirty yards away. I assume that he had smelt the deer and could just not hold back his curiousity. -LaVoi
