A 7MAG is over kill for deer it is made for elk and stuff i woud recomend any thain from a 22-250 up to a 30-06 i shoot a 243 wssm i woud recomment on one of those it is faster drops less hits harderand more accurate than a regular 243 perfect for deer

I think a .243 of .270. I shot a 30.06 and im shooting a 150grain bullet and id still like to do even less damage but its my all round gun for moose to deer that why i enjoy it but id still like to use a .243 or .270 for just when im deer hunting. So for just deer i think go with a smaller caliber

In my opinion the 30-06 is the all around gun. The ammo you can make or buy is of the greatest variety. This gun will take anything down in North America. Good luck to you and hopefully you will make a good choice.
Ihave a 270, a 30-06 and a 243, and I use all of them.
