Id say its a toss up between a 3 1/2 inch Charles Daley pump shotgun, or my father in laws, .350 Remington Magnum, in a custon shop Model 7 synthetic Remington rifle, it only weighs 6 1/4 lbs, and will pound you.

New England single shot 10 guage. Damn thing knocked me on my ass. Despite the fact I was only 9 years old I still remember it like yesterday.

338 win mag with some pretty hot hand loads. Sometime soon I hope to shoot my uncle's 30-378 weatherby.

My dad's old Winchester 12 ga...well maybe not so much the gun....

I was 13 at the time, andhad gone out dove hunting and was low on shells, so I grabbed a couple extra off the gun rack. The last one I shot, which obliterated the dove, turned out to be a 00 buck 3" high base shell. The whole time I was trying to relax when I shot, because I would pull too much from being too stiff. Well, when I shot that last shell, I relaxed too much. When I shot,I felt my shoulder slide out of socket and back. I almost dropped the gun after I shot. All I could do was let my arm hang and try not to breath because it hurt so much. I was sore for a couple of weeks after that.

The school of hard knocks was definitely in session that day!

120mm smoothbore on an M1-A1 with service round sabots. Rifle wise, likely the Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle @ Ft. Campbell and .338 civilian wise.

It would have to be between a 10 ga. single shot with 3-1/2” shells or 338 Win. Mag...

RE: Hardest kicking gun youve ever shot

I shot a 30-06 when I was 11, I never shot one again.
Now, me and my dad go to the gym, and muscles serve as nature's recoil pad!:D

.450 Marlin with Hornady 350 grain round nose. Much worse than a 338 Mag.

Close second would be 12 ga 3" Magnum Buckshot.

I think the worst I ever did was pull both triggers on an old 12 gauge side by side.

Mine is the gun I shoot now a Mossberg 5500 with 3" shells. Doesn't really kick that hard, but that has beenthe hardest for me.

90gr and a 385 GP is enough, but... adding a ramrod has got to hurt.

Stoutest recoil I've experienced? Prob 3" 000 buck in my 870; a 3" turkey load in a friend's lightweigh O/U. I've shot a lot of .50 muzzleloader and 30-06, and they're not close to a load of 12GA buckshot.

Slugs out of my dad's 12 gauge. I don't rifle hunt so I haven't shot those big calibers.

.308? How can a .308 compare to a 300 Win. Mag? Were you 4 when you shot the .308 or something?:DOr do you weigh 60 pounds?

No offense.

I've shot a few of the big boomers, but never anything in .416. I've shot the .338 RUM, .375 H&H, .30-378, .378 and the .460 Weatherby magnums.

The .378 without a muzzle break hurts more than the .460 with the break. The recoil of the .378 is so sharp and painful, compared to the recoil of a braked .460.

The .460 without the muzzle break, on the other hand, is truly out of this world. The difference between the .460 with and without the break?

I was 9 years old and a friend's dad took us out to check a couple waterfowl blinds, and test fire the old goose gun. 12 gauge pump with 3 inch goose loads. I will never forget that day. The gun was longer than me, and my shoulder felt like I had stood behind a cannon.

12 gauge with 1 1/4oz goose loads trying to pattern. I've heard some say the .35 Whelen kicks, but I don't know, doesn't bother me at all, like it's not an all day gun (I got the 6.5 Swede for that ;)), but for sighting it in for hunting season, it's fine.

mine was probably a smith and wesson model 1500 bolt action 30-06. had a steel butt plate and it freakin hurt my arm. ive shot guns that should have kicked much worse like the new englane single shot 12 ga with a 3 1/2 in mag but the 30-06 sure did hurt worse than anything ive ever shot.
