Normally you would need to sight in 1-1/2" highor more at 100 yards with both of those cartridges to be dead on at 200 yards.

In my early days of hunting I made friends with an older man who was an old school iron worker, (he has since passed), and he was the one who taught me to reload and sight my rifles in. Hell of a man and hunter.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! Have a good one.

I sight my .300 win mag in 1.5" high @ 100 yards and it is dead on @ 200 yards. I sight my .30-.30 2" high at 100 yards and it is about 14" low @ 200, but I do not plan any shots that long with the .30-.30.

I sight in my .243 at 2" high at 100 yards. My assumption is that this puts me close to dead on at 200 yards and 3 " low at 250 yards. Most of my shooting for deer will be at less than 250 yards. In point of fact, 80% of my shooting is at 150 yards or less.
