At 50-150 yards, I would use a .45-70 but that is just me. I hate tracking deer and like to see them drop in their tracks.

I have used everything its just the amount of recoil you want. My 12 gauge slug gun will reach out to 175 yards. Yes I said it 175 yrds , not to burst anyones bubble.
