I have several different rifles that I use or have used. My favorite is the one I bought for my wife two years ago. Remington Model 7 .260 SS youth model. I have killed several deer with this rifle, anywhere from 50 to 300+ and I have never had a deer yet take more than 2 steps after impact. I have used 30-30, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 WSM, 7mm SA UM (short action ultra mag), and shotguns and the 260 is my favorite. When my wife doesn`t go hunting, her rifle does, because I take it every chance I get.

If you are going to shoot game animals deer and smaller, the 260 is perfect.

Well I just saw that i was the first person to vote for shotgun cause if you dont think a shotgun will drop a deer a 50 yards YOU ARE NUTS i hunt with my 12 guage winchester semi-auto. its all you can use in SE lower michigan but i shoot winchester Supreme's and I site it in at 100 yards and its deadon at 25 and about 2 inches high at 50 yards and about 1 1/1 inches low at 150 it is very flat shooting and I love it!

LMAO too many people on here want to much advice, a little advice is fine but there is a such thing as too much. have the fun is learning on your own and testing diffrent products

For me, I enjoy talking calibers, just like at deer (man) camp. we go round and round every year and every weekend, and it's still fun.

i have never shot a deer before(because i just started) but i really like my remington 870 12g, i shoot 1 in groups at 100yds

For 50-150 yards, the .308 gets my vote.
