I have to thank God because I know it was'nt my cat like reflex that was able to bring down an animal. As always I think of a harvest as a gift, a divine appointment set in motion to provide food on the table. Anyone who spends time in the outdoors is familiar with the perfect order of nature.
One verse that always stopped me was the mention that all things were created by him and he holds all things together. Think about that. You magnify anything enough solid or liquid and there is space. There is more space than matter in this computer I'm using and he consists and holds all things together. I believe he is even responsible for a perfect broadside shot.

If it crawls it falls, if it flies it dies.

I am elated to see the responses to my post. Not for the numbers but for the sheer fact that every post all but two of them will thank the lord or a higher power for the fortune of taking harvest, and in general for everything.

Others clearly do no beleive in the Lord or refuse to due to thier own reasons. All I can say is that I respect your feelings and will continue to pray for evey one that does and doesn't beleive in the good lord.

Happy hunting

Jred.

Let's see if power of prayer really works. Pray for me to get a 10pt this weekend.

I believe it was Teddy Rosevelt that said, 'I'd rather have hands that help than knees that prey.'

Before a christian Jihad is called on me... Let me say this. My dad is a minister and I was raised in the church. The examples of hypochrisy I have seen is enormous. Religion is all about control and money and ANYONE who thinks otherwise is foolish and is blinded by 'faith'.

I only have one question.... there are 4 versions of the Easter story in the bible. There are unreconcilable differences between the versions. If the bible is the infallible word of god - how is this possible?

With that said - I think the fact that you harvest a deer is MORE likely to be the result of YOUR hard work scouting.. YOUR discipline to remain still.. YOUR good shot from hours of practice... YOUR ability to track the animal... and nothing to do with a 'supreme being'.

Remember, even a blind squirrel occasionally gets a nut.

For those that dont believe in God , do believe in God but dont feel he deserves some credit , or dont care either way , why bother to open the thread? And better yet , why bother with a reply that you know will cause ill feelings toward one another? jred's thread wasn't intended to be a debate. I believe he simply wanted to find out how many others shared the same link between God and hunting as he does.

I thank GOD for everything! I'm Christian and proud of it! Now that i've said that let me say that i posted a thread like this entitled (Christian Bowhunter) on another forum about a year ago and it turned into a really ugly religious debate and that surely wasn't my intentions. There's nothing wrong with your post but you'll be quick to learn there are alot of non-believers out there who get really offended by the post and will argue with you until the cows come home if thats what you desire. All i can say now is what i said then and leave it at that...."I believe in GOD and pray for those who don't" God Bless!

Bruce said it for me.
I will thank God for every good thing in my life.
Among them will always be the time spent in nature, deer sightings, and kills.

Each time I am granted the gift of a deer to eat, I will thank Mother Earth and Father Sky for the bounty of meat, and for the fantastic experience that is hunting.

JC_1, I pray that someday you can accept the fact that it's OK for other people to have different beliefs than yours. Please do not condemn them for it.
I wish you peace in your journey through life.
Whatever you choose to believe about God or the church, do not let it make you become an unpleasant person.

JC-1

Like Bowfanatic said, I sipmly wanted to know who out there shared the same link as I do in respect to the Lord and hunting. Giving thanks. Nothing more nothing less.

As mentioned before I respect what you and a few others have said wether I agreed with them or not and left it on possitive note.

To try and answer your question, the bible was not written by the Lord but my men like us on this board, who were his deciples, some of those who were non believers, before coming to know the Lord.

These stories some of which are worded in different manners, but the priciple still remains the same. The Lord died on the cross for all of us beleiver and non believers. When he was taken down from the cross and sealed in his tomb he arose to be with God. Some different descrioptions but all with the same ending.

Your comment regarding people being foolish and blinded by faith is taken with a heavy heart. Let me say this, Hunters that abuse this tradition of hunting give most all other hunters bad names, the same goes for all religions. Don't be so quick and sharp tounged to pass judgement on us who do believe in the Lord, please.

If you find a baby fawn with it's head blown off, this does'nt mean I am a bad person just because I carry a shot gun and hunt for deer.

I and other members have respected your comments and have passed on our compete support for you as best we know how, with prayer.

If some one doesn't believe in the Lord this does't mean you are cursed and can't take game with out him.

Resting in the Lord allows one to relly on the Lord and able to see that all things are possible with him when you trust in him and know him.

Inturn, giving thanks to the lord for the ability to learn, haveing the skills and know how to have taken a harvest is a sign of gradtitue, respect an honor for the Lord.

CJ-1 if you feel compeled to reply to this post please do so, but send it to my email address. As this is a hunting forum and thoe my original question was in reference to both this as become another whole topic.

With my head down hat off and both hands on the deer.
For those of us that believe have nothing to lose if we are wrong. Those who don't have everything to lose.
