We all hunt for various reasons. At thisstage in my life I happen to enjoy the meat more than the antlers. To me and my family and friends a buck doesn't taste as good as a doe, especially if in rut.
I've been hunting for 45 years and have taken some great bucks as well as some great tasting does. Mounts don't mean anything to me any more. I think it would be a disgrace to take a big antlered buck and not have him mounted, which of course I wouldn't do. I do think he should be put on a wall for all to see and enjoy. Here in Missouri where we hunt there is a 4 point minimum and I don't have a problem with that. We are all different and separate but with a common denominator, we are all hunters.
Dirt, I would classify you as a hunter. Good luck.

PS Thanks for replying.

Antlers ,they could weight 10 lbs as long as they score 150 and up. There body is a life support system for there antlers. Dont get me wrong I eat there meat just dont like it that well.I will not waste an animals life and not get some good out of it.

I do not hunt meat or antlers. I hunt deer. If it has antlers, great. If not, oh well. As long as the kill is not wasted.

after hunting this past sat., i thought more about this question and decided that i hunt for the peace and quiet. i hunt for the time i spend with my husband. i hunt for the time i spend gathering memories. the deer are just a bonus at the end of the day. or sometimes they aren't........
