Have You Ever Had A Tree Stand Stolen ?
#11
No thank God i usualy carry in a climber and carry it out . I have onehang on that is bolted to the tree with a 8 inch timber lock that you would need tobring the right chuck pattern and a 18 volt driver with you to remove it

1 stand and 1 set of steps.I always lock my stands in and if I think there may be any one else in the area I pull the first 4 steps.I also use inexpensive stands, mostly Rivers Edge chain on's.I have a couple of high end stands that would go in and out with me.

jrsb...I have...Once, on the Uwharrie tract that you hunt in...It was about 10-12 years ago, a nice API Baby Grand...had it locked up over a clover patch 2 days before archery season...Cable was cut, I never used a lock on type stand again...I now use 2 climbers and carry them in and out.
I also had a feeder stolen...Once...down near Piscah covered bridge...there is a guy down there notorious for stealing...I found where he went in with his 4-wheeler and even tracked him home...I checked on him for 3 years, finally went by one Sunday and he had my feeder beside his storage shed...I got my video camera and took footage, took this to the sherrif's dept and showed it to them...I had changed the timer and this helped me identify it...They picked it up, so I got it back....They took him to court, he came up with a receipt from a pawn shop up near Winston...Said he bought it there....Imagine that, feeder was found 1/2 a mile from where I hunt, went to Winston and back to Piscah...He got off, but had to at least pay a lawyer for his defense....I couldn't believe the judge bought his story....

I haven't stolen one, but i've taken one off of private property. I was the only one that had permission to be on the property and the landowner said it was out. I hunt mostly public land and the rules say no stands left over night so as no one is staking claim to a specific spot. I don't leave my stand there, but I have tree pegs up all over the place so I just pack my stand in and out every night. It sucks, especially since I walk a couple miles to some sets. I hope to have a lease next year so that I could leave stands in.
