Deer hunting in Florida
Was just wondering if anyone on here lives and hunts in Florida. I will be moving there soon. The area that I will be living in is Tallahassee. Was just wondering what to expect. Can you use centerfire rifles or do you have to use shotguns? Anyone??

Some WMA's may have restrictions, but other than an earlier bow season you can use almost anything you want to use. You also have a long season with generous limits. Finding a good place to hunt may be your only problem in the Tallahassee area. Lots of us go to Bama or into Ga and belong to clubs. Welcome to Florida..

In the PC area you have the Point Washington andChoctawhatcheeWMA's and Eglin AFB within driving distance as well as a couple more public hunting areas. A call to the Bay County Tax Collectors office will get you some pamplets on them as well as a copy of the season days and limits. Coming down from Ky and other northern states the biggest thing you will miss is the open woods. A lot of the areas you can't see 10 feet in the woods and power lines or woods roads are the only long distance sight you will have. It will be totally different hunting than you are accustomed to.

The northern part is better! My favorite is Aucilla WMAarea. It includes Jefferson County which is the only county in FL which is from the Georgia boarder all the way to the Gulf!
