http://www.imagestation.com/picture/....thumb.jpgWell, I finally killed a deer while my son was with me!!! We had a great day today. I started taking him some when he was four. Each year he's done much better about sitting still and being quiet. Today was his first time going with me in the morning which he did very good. Just takes a little extra time getting ready to go into the woods with a 7 year old. We saw 2 deer this morning and let them go. Went back this afternoon and had 4 come in around 5:15 and wonder around till I finally shot at 5:45, just 3 minutes before legal shooting hours ended. It was a pretty tough shot since I'm shooting an old T/C Hawkin with iron sights. We ended up with a small doe that I would have passed on if I were by myself, but he was really excited about it anyway. We stopped to check it in and he would tell anyone who would listen the whole story of how we killed it. My guess is he's addicted now. I'll probably never be able to go to the woods without him now.
Well, sorry to be so long winded. I'm just a proud dad.

Congrats!!!! Nice doe, I know the feeling of taking a kid out to hunt, I took 2 of my daughters out and we went elk hunting and were there when I shot my first elk.

The doe is nice, but the smile on your son's face is great. My boys are 18 and 20 and I would rather spend a day in the boat or woods with them than anybody else in the world. I could tell you about their first deer........ Jim
