I was out looking around the property I'll be deer hunting this fall and found the following on trees. Are these a type of acorn that isn't fully developed yet or are they something else? Is this something that deereat?

What the heck is that funny green stuff anyway, it doesn't look like a an acorn.
I'm not sure if the deer would eat that or not , I know one thing for sure I wouldn't eat it.

what type of plant did they fall from or get picked from?

Looks like acorns to be. Did they come from an oak? have a pic of the leaves? Look like premature acorns to me by those pics.

It came off a tree that looks like an oak tree. There are quite a few around where I'll be hunting. When I take the "seed" apart it look like an undeveloped acorn. I'll get some more and post them. I wish it was mary jane...i'd be hunting on 1000 acres of my own instead of 15.

Looks just like early acorns to me, was it dry in your area this year, caus eit was in Wi and thats how most of ours look right now where you can find any acorns.

Glad I'm not the only one that knows about this. I thought people might think i'm crazy or something. Yes, the area that the pictures are from has thin layers of soil. It has been dry as of late, but I've seen other trees around that have acorns already. The specific spot I got these from is quite dry right now and we received some rain as of late. Thanks for the positive reply wis bow huntr.

Those look like Burr Oak acorns that have been sloughed due to stress IMO.
