I guess it's unanamous...you were wrong.
My next gun is either a Mossberg trophy slugster in 20 gauge or
a H&R single shot in 20 gauge.

yeah...I was wrong, as I said before. my grampa has a 45-70 H&R single shot. It was already sighted in at 100 yards, if you can beleive it!

I can beleive it... If I'm not mistaken, .45-70 is one of the "buffalo guns" a long range monster for taking down bison.

actually a 20 guage is more consistant and accurate at longer ranges than a 12 gauge there for making it easier to put it in the kill zone while still having enough knock down power to bring the animal down...not to mention they kick less which is double good in my book. i have taken white tails out to 160 with my 20 ga. without any trouble. just my two cents

My father in law killed a bunch of deer with a 20 ga Mossberg 500 smoothbore . He loaned it to my sister in law . Several years ago , she shot a 5 pt at 169 paces or just over 130 yards with a cheap Federal Rifled slug . The buck went about 30 yards and dropped . That gun has some knockdown power ! :)

a 20 is more than enough. i've killed 2 with my 870 20. my cousin has killed 2 with his and so has my brother. In my opinion the ony difference between a 12 and 20 is that the 12 ga weighs more.

I killed many deer with a 20g slug as a youngster. They will do the job and do it right. Also, they wont hurt your shoulder near as bas as a 12g slug.:D
