Default He Is Back Along With Others

Last Year, I got a picture of a buck with no brow tines, and did not know whether or not to shoot him for that reason or to let him go one more year. So, I asked everyone and got mixed opinions, and never saw the deer during the season so it really didnt matter. Well, he is back--with now brows again. At least he brought some new guys around with him.

Here is a picture of him from last year.

Here is a picture of him this year. Based on his body and rack this year, what do you think? Time to go? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here are a couple other bucks in the area.

If he is on property that you have permission to hunt and you want to shoot him, them bust his butt. Not everybody has to raise Boone and Crockett type deer. Satisfyyour hunting desires.

If you are trying to manage the property for large bucks I would suggest shooting this one. Although he doesn't have brow tines he is a nice deer. He is definately a mature deer. This is one you may consider getting out of your gene pool. If you leave him on the property he will reproduce and possibly have offspring with no brow tines. I would say shoot him.

I would kill him. There is some interesting research over on the Texas Parsk and Wildlife page concerning spikes. Chances are that he was a spike as a 1 1/2 old buck. If management is your goal he needs to go.

I'm not an expert but if he is mature you should harvest him...show us a pic when you do.

We are trying to manage our place and are trying to shoot 4.5 yrs and older. Under normal conditions we would not shoot this deer, but we are just curious because of the lack of brows. It also seems that there are more bucks around this summer without brow tines. I am beginning to wonder if this guy has already begun to damage the herd genetics...
