huntin rides

here is the ride i built originaly for huntin but after moddin the muffler and air intake (among other things) it is too loud for hunting so i just keep it for trail ridin....anyone els use carts, atv'sor side by sides? (rhino, ranger, mule) im going to build an electric all hunting camo cart next, more low end torque, no smell or noise and start easier when its cold...this cart has about 14 HP (gas engine), top speed of about 35 and can climb most anything with no problem....

here is a link to all my pics,

The link is good. You just have to put the pass word in. He put the pass word info under the link in his post.

Cool looking rig. I would like to have a polaris ranger instead of a 4 wheeler. But they are kinda pricey.

its a 1987 yamaha G2....the stock 285cc engine runs good, and with all the mods to it, K&N filter, re jetted carb, cutom modified muffler, governor and RPM limiter removed, and the torque spring in the CVT to keep it in a lower gear, it runs better than any other stock enginegolf cart ive found...but i want MORE...next in line is an 18HP briggs vtwin, modified with a few goodies to over 30HP....

here is a couple pic's of my hunt'n rig....

it takes a little more than a golf cart to get to some of my hunt'n area's. also atv's are outlawed, you have to have a tagged vehicle. so i have been building on this rig for a little over a year now (part of the reason i haven't been on here much). a quick rundown on it is as follows:

1984 CJ7 Laredo
-----------
engine: 304 c.i. v8
tranny: torqueflight 904 3 speed auto
t case: dana 300
f axle: dana 30 with lockright locker
r axle: amc 20 with upgraded hardened 1 piexe axle shafts and full spool
driveshafts: custom
exhaust: fenderwell drag headers into flowmasters peeled out each side
tires: 35x12.50x15" BFG Mud Terrains
lift: 6 inch rough country suspension system
recovery: mile marker 8,000# winch
lighting: 2 kc daylighter spotlights with 2 warn flood lights
misc.: thousands of dollars in extra suspension/engine/bumpers etc. equipment

Rebel, I don't even think that is legal where I live. Maybe on a game ranch, but not for regular hunting. I could be wrong though, never tried it.

Deerslayer, you do know blue is one of the few colors deer actually see pretty well? I would rethink your color scheme if it were me.

Here is my hunting rig/ride

I'm poor, I can barely afford decent shoes let alone some sort of ATV and a truck with a trailer to get it to where I am hunting;).

As far as my ride, I own a Sebring coupe with a 3.0 and a five speed, it's gold. I don't even own a truck. When I kill something I go get someone with a truck to help me.

Paul

Paul, in FL you can shoot from a boat or vehicle as long as the vehicle is not moving. I like this height because it puts my vision just above the Palmetos. I can see them coming for as long as I can see and I'm not hanging in the air so they can see me. If I want to move to another spot......Done Quick and if it rains, I don't get wet!!:D:D

RE: huntin rides

Cool, like I said I'm not sure if that is legal in MI or not, I don't think it is. I know they would give you some crap about it for sure. Maybe if you were handicaped? If I could get away with it I would try it for sure. Nice set up.

Be kind of hard to get in the middle of the woods though where I live;).

I was really just being a smart alleck is all.

Paul

Yep! I have 1" marine plywood secured with threaedJ hooks to the luggage racks. My brother-in-law made the aluminum ladder which is secured to the plywood and the running board. The top aluminumframecan be folded and removed for travaling on the highway.

This does the trick for me- it can go nearly anywhere you want it to go thanks to the big 650 and the locker, and handles more like a sport machine so it's a blast to ride. Hopefully the next machine in our garage is a prairie 700.

Here is my ride I just picked up today. I got it mainly for driving around the hunting property or whatever. Cost all of $152 off of ebay. I told myself I would pay up to $200 for it because that was some money I just got in online survey checks and rebates from best buy. It was well worth it.

vintage 3 wheeler....very nice...what about online surveys?

Vogt_51 07-17-2006 04:21 PM

RE: huntin rides

Nothing really, I just do online surveys on various sites. Only a handful are legit I think as it took me about 3 different tries on other sites before I found one like the one in my signature. They just celebrated their 1 year anniversery of being online actually. They have a forum and whatnot to talk to other members and you can just take some surveys and sign up for some newsletters and get paid for it. So far I have raked in about $80 from the site in my signiture, so that paid for half of that golf cart I just bought. Pretty neat.

Hey guys, does anyone use a dirt bike for scouting or hunting? I've ridden both dirt bikes and ATVs and know some of the obvious limitations; noise, carrying capacity, 4 wheel drive vs 1 wheel, suspension, etc. But I was curious to know if anyone did us a 2 wheeler and what type and modifications, etc.

Heres one of my hunting rigs, Right here on the farm I usually use my Honda Rancher, if I have to travel a short distance to one of my leases, I usually use my Jeep, its a 92 Wrangler 4 inch lift 33 inch swampers, mossy oak camo, 150 watt off road lights, overhead gun rack,, and still the quietest vehicle I own. If I have to travel a long way,, I use my 03 Ford Superduty.

Hey thanks,, I do have a winch for it, but havent put it on yet, Im waiting till I get all the other wiring done on the Jeep before I install the winch. I am getting ready to swap in small block chevy and 350 th tranny, and a heavier rear end. After all thats in the wnch will go on. It does get lots of looks around town. Everyone asks about it, amazingly Im surprised by the amount of women who comment on it,, including my wife,, when I told her I was putting camo on it, she threw a fit, but her mind was changed when it was finished, now she likes to drive it around.

if you run the lights and winch often, learn from my mistake and go ahead and splurge for the optima yellow top battery.

Here's mine.....

I bought it so that I could manage my hunting property more efficiently (it sounds big-time.....but I got tired of carrying 200 pounds of corn to my feeders ....50#'s at a time for 1/4 mile!!). I've gotten more use out of this thing around the house than I ever DREAMED. Plus....it's fun to put the wife on the back and scoot around.

I love my ATV.

Jeff
