Default Screech cont....rifle/bow

OK SOARKREBEL- You need to lighten up a bit. Let me tell you how it is. All I am saying is that Because I bow hunt in Minnesota were the season starts roughly around sept. 15 and doesn't end until dec 31 that I spend a lot of time "hunting" in the woods. OK. Much more than the average rifle or shotgun hunter in these parts. As much time as I spend in the woods, a majority of it is spent watching deer. OK. So yes "I" do see a lot of stuff that the "average" gun hunter probably doesn't. That is all i'm saying. The person asked about a screech in he woods and I was meerly telling him about my experience with deer and their noises. So lighten up and don't get so defensive. I love Bow hunting and yes I will never pick up a rifle and head into the woods again. MY OPINION ok. The way I see it is that any idiot with a rifle and a zeroed in scope can go sit in a stand in the woods and shoot any deer they see within a hundred yards or 200 if they have been to a range. I spend weeks and months in the woods hunting specific deer and trying to get these specific deer into a 30 yard zone. Not to mention I have to draw a bow on them and actually hit them. its Hunting SOARKREBEL. Relax Its my Opinion. I hope it doesn't offend you.

WOWE... Cool off

I agree with you, the more time you, we, us spends in the woods the more experience you will gain and see.

But, give us rifle men a break, we'er not idiots. Yes, it is less challeging but most of all the other factors still apply.

The sound came from a BIGFOOT!

Onlybow, that is great you are a bow only guy, but some of us aren't. To say it is nothing to take a rifle, zero scope and sit in the stand at harvest is bull. You know the shakes you get when you draw back that bow and settle in your 20 yard pin, let me tell you the same happens when you drop the crosshairs on a big bad boy at 200...it's called buck fever! I hunt with a bow, ML and rifle, I spent many hours scouting, shed hunting and watching deer. For me to harvest an animal it must meet the same standard regardless of weapon and the shot must be their. When I due pull the trigger on my relase or my gun everything equals a long journey of many hours of education and the stars lined up for me to boot.

I don't believe in the "high Horse" mentality of any hunters, I choose to pass bucks that many would drop in a heartbeat....far be it for me to say they don't know jack. Everyone has different reasons, goals and success, but the end result should be the same...yumyum for the tum, pics, memories, smiles and the stories to share for years to come. All my harvest are special to me....who cares what weapon I used!!

My 2 cents worth!

Wish you all a great season and remember be safe!

Well I am rifle hunting for the first time and this is my third year hunting. I usually hunt in a shotgun slug zone down in Farmington. I thought I would give rifle hunting a shot this year. I sighted in my rifle last weekend for 100 yards and even with the scope, I do not see anything easy about it. One little jerk with your gun and that bullet can be way off, especially when you have your adrenaline going! Well I will give it a try, but I am going to start bow hunting next year. I am still looking for my first deer so I will have to try it all to figure it out. Sounds like you have been hunting a while and I think its great you only bow hunt. Until I get my first deer I will probally continue to rifle and shotgun hunt. Bow is the next step. Thats my opinion.

With such a high opinion of yourself and bowhunting, maybe you should go over the the bowhunting forum with the rest of the high and mighty elitests. We have enough to deal with on this board without someone else stirring up crap.

Man onlybow i felt kind of special to have my own topic posted.but i would have come back to the screech one.
In arkansas archery season starts oct1 and runs till feb 28. our gun season runs from nov 9 til dec 20 and has a few days around x mas. muzzleloader gets about three weeks in there also. so you see in some parts of the country firearm hunting is in during the rut. but actually in arkansas they rut just a hard in jan . but the office biologist in our game and fish who lives in suburbia little rock doesn't seem to take this into account. those biologist know lots about deer. yeah
i hear rifle hunting is so easy. humm then why is it like only about 20 % of gun hunters are successful? and for bowhunters, even with there longer season ,is lower than that.
i do bow hunt and yep i own a crossbow also and hunt with it also. i muzzleload and rifle hunt. now i love rifles and am a certified gun nut thus i would prefer to gun hunt. but yes i bowhunt also. now i am not going to represent any method as being better than the other . if i was yes it would be rifle hunting . WHY ? i think it is more ethical due to it usually produces a quicker cleaner kill. less chance for a mistaken bad shot, shot placement is more certain at the time of pulling the trigger, tissue damage to the aniaml is far greater thus causing it to expire much more quickly.
I prefer a shot at the base of the neck severing the spine causing instant incapacitation. no tracking and the animal didn't suffer. that is the the point where the shoulders and neck begin. i have great luck with these shots.
my purpose when i shoot a deer is to put meat in my freezer . my family loves it and we will eat on it a large portion of the year. if i wanted to watch deer i could just sit outside my house and sooner or later they will come around. as i joked with ruger redhawk the other day i was hunting in my living room ,cause of rain, and yep i saw a deer. not everybody has this great pleasure and for that i am sorry. it is a great way to live , in the woods.
What rubbed me wrong was the impression i got that to you felt that bow hunters were better. i get real upset when i see that tone. it's just me i guess . i don't condemn anybody for there method heck if your good with a spear go for it. just make it clean and quick for the animal.
if you are a "bowhunter" only ,fine! but don't give the impression that you are better or know more than others. cause i can assure you there are a few on here that know their stuff.
oh and i am relaxed . cyber tension is much different than actual tension. i am not offended , opinions are what are expressed on here and everybody has one. and we all from different parts of the country and world for some. we all have different well ......opinions. i like to argue on here cause we can't throw blows that hurt. if words hurt someone then maybe they should stay unregistered.
and i am sure we will disagree again and that is ok.
we will just express our opinions and experiences and possibly learn something .

Bernie, you are on a roll! I like your attitude.

Leave poor soakrebel alone, I like his style too. He tells you like it is to him, no toe stepping. I guess bowonly you might be considered the same, you tell it like it is to you. However I did get the "High and Mighty" feeling in your post. This may not what you intended, but it seems it may have came across that way.

If you want the BOW ROCKS guys, like said try out that forum, I am sure you'll find many pals. Not being a jerk, well maybe, but not meaning to be one. I like this forum cuz guys really do respond to each other better, the bow forum is good but seems to have a clique going. Of course I ain't in the clique, so I prefer an open discussion forum such as here or the gun forums.

BTW, would you guys please start looking and repling to my Wildlife Research Scents post on here, I am getting a complex!

soarkrebel, I know you just pee and the deer come running....what is in your diet man? (Liver, Lava Beans and a nice Chianti!!!!)
