Hunt with me in Alberta

I will be hunting in Alberta this year with my old friend and outfitter Don Tyschuk ...Don only hunts 6 rifle hunters per year on his property ...and he has one opening available ... I have hunted with Don two previous times and have truly enjoyed my trips there ... you will be staying in his nice new home in Edmonton and he will pick you up at the airport ... the hunt is $4500.00 for 6 full days of hunting and that includes all tags and license ...food ..transportation ... and care for your trophy ... if your seriously interested please PM me for more details ..it is a GREAT hunt ! The pictures below are of bucks actually taken from his property ...

Don't you think this breaks the advertising rules?

And what kind of a break are you getting if someone does take you up on this hunt?

DD
What is the outfitters success rate and average score of deer taken in the last couple of years that you have been going?

This sounds like an excellent opportunity on what (judging by the pictures) appears to be a well managed operation. If I weren't going on 3 trips out of state already, I would definitely consider it.

I personally appreciatethis kind ofoffer to a bunch of guys that you don't really know. Thanks!

Charlie you wouldWHINE if you were hung with a new rope..Ive not posted anythingon this fourm inover two months and you start whinning right off the bat ...your worse then an old woman !... I am not selling anything just letting some friends on here know that if they want a great hunt there is one spot available ...as for what I make off of it ziltch ..you can check his web site and all I have done was quote the price that is there ... he really needs no help selling 6 hunts ..he just had someone cancel due to being laid off at work and I thought some of the members on here might be interested ..as for his success rate I would imagine truth be known somewhere around 50 to 60% ..but it could be higher if the hunters did not pass up 140 and 150 class bucks to get a chance at a book buck ...

Hey DD just curious but what WMU r you hunting in cause those whiteys you got in those pics look like their from northr eastern Alberta (a lil north or east of edmonton). Oh for those of you every wanting to hunt game in alberta i will suggest the best places to hunt for certain game. Elk:the western area of Alberta so the foothills pretty much so mostly in the 300 WMU's. Moose:same as elk. Mulies:The 100 WMU's are where most of the trophy mulies r taken from. Whitey's:The 200 WMU's r the best for big whitey's. Pronghorn: draw a line from edmonton to the southern border of alberta and everything east of that is good. Caribou:the 500 WMU's. Bear and cougar:300 WMU's. Coyotes:Anywhere. If you want to go to a map of the alberta WMU's go to the website http://www.albertaoutdoorsmen.ca/hun...ason-wmus.html

Hope this will help those of you hoping to come here one day and try to bag some canuck game.

Oh and good luck on your trip this year up here to alberta DD

If you owned the place, were affiliated w/them then it may be a problem. This may be a 'slight' form of advertising but its called word of mouth. You seem to be quite happy w/your hunt and you recommend it others.

All I have to say is nice pics. Thanx

Looks like Tred Barta....Looks like I should get into the guiding business...see bucks like these shown and biggeraround here regularly. That's alot of money just to shoot a whitetail. I am going to New Foundland for moose, caribou, and black bear with lodging and licenses for $5500.

DoctorDeath 06-03-2006 04:19 PM

B.C. not yet my friend BUT I have "plans" to shoot Monday ...I will have the day off ... and if its not raining ..or real windy like it has been seems all spring and summer here so far Ill get this sucker zero'ed ... as for being a lot to hunt Whitetails I know its not cheap Hardcore ... but from what I have seen hunting a whitetail in Alberta is a lot tuffer then hunting a baited bear ...or a heard of Caribou that walk right in front of you ...and I have seen Moose 3 out of the 4 times I have hunted Canada so those dont seem that hard to hunt either... BUT different strokes for different folks ... I hope you do well.

Hardcore, been to New Foundland a few times. And on occasion, didn't come back a moose. Caribou should be easy enough. Killing a black bear is a rarity in Oct season, Ifound. Spring isa different story. But out of the airport last trip out of 32 hunters, maybe 2 had a trophy. Rest were scrubs. I hope your in top notch shape. Be able to run 3-5 miles pretty easy. But really what I learned is to concentrate on climbing. Maybe train on stairs. Newfies don't move entirely fast, but they can hump and hump some more thru the black spruce. Hospital in deer lake is always full of US hunters. I myself sprained my ankle and pulled my hip.

I think I took my last trip up there. Next moose trip to BC.

Thanks bigcountry..we work out all the time. I think elk hunting at 12,000 ft on foot with heavy packs was about as tough as it goes too. Hoytgirl and I are excited about the hunt. We go next Sept.

Believe me if your in Northern Newfoundland, CO hunting for elk is like a walk in the park. Anybody can walk hard ground, yea its steep and air is thin. But the bog's and black sprucetake so much out of you. I got another friend on here GAHUNTER, who just wrote me not too long ago, and said, since Newfoundland, he went elk/mulie hunting 3 times and Africa Twice and all of them together doesn't add up to his trip to Newfoundland. I know from experience, he's right on target. Good luck.:D:D

Now Southern Newfoundland isn't as boggy.

Good luck to you too DD.... No bait hunting; all spot and stalk..woodland caribou are a tough animal to hunt unlike their cousin the ground barren. We have huge whitetails here but I can see your allure as Southern deer don't get as big as up north or the midwest. 3 species for $5000 with lodging and largest population of moose in North America, we just have to go. GOOD LUCK..Hope you find someone:D

Not exactly. It is the one sure thing up there. Moose can be hit or miss good. But if your going with an outfitter, alot of times they overhunt an area with too many hunters. a few years of that, and moose get very tough to see. You want to pick an outfitter that only takes 10-12 a year.

What outfitter did you pick? I am familuar with alot of em.

Champlain Islander 06-04-2006 08:45 AM

RE: Hunt with me in Alberta

I have been for the past 3 years to central NL and the spot and stalk was great but extremely difficult physically. I am in great shape but wasn't ready for the rigors of the hunt the first year. In the next 2 years I knew what to expect and was better prepared with anice set of camo gortex and good fitting 18" rubber boots with deep tread. I only went for bou but saw many moose too. I always go with Snowshoe Lake Hunting and Fishing and they have very good success rates on all species hunted..

I will be huntingin the same general area asyou, butsince Iam resident of Alberta,I do not require an outfitter.I actually met Don a few years ago in a restaurant in southern Alberta, and he seems like a nice fellow. However,if I don't score in Alberta,I will also be hunting Saskatchewan, again without requiring an outfitter.Good luck.
