RE: What is this a picture of?
Guys,
Can anyone see it? Can anyone else see the respect generated by this elusive, Southern whitetail? I notice it in the way he is taking that step, the look in his eye, and the way he carries his head and rack. It is almost as if that Southern buck is saying, "I demand respect, and you will give it to me." Something special about whitetail deer that make them the most majestic animal of all time. their artful way of moving throughout the Florida bottomland. the way they quietly search for acorns on the oak ridge of the woods in middle Ga......these creatures are something special and that up above is a prime example. |
RE: What is this a picture of?
Whitetail with a funny looking back leg and no white tail??? As I look at it again I see the head of a whitetail deer and the back end of a mulie. The color of the back left leg looks more like a mulie. I suspect a cruel foul has been played.:D
TDWW if you think that looks like a prime Southern Whitail Deer you better clean your glasses.:D |

RE: What is this a picture of?
Come on all you experts. Can't you see that Wihunter32 has used photo shop or some other software to place the head of a nice whitetail on the body of a mulie. You can see the difference in the fur at the junction. The head which is clearly a whitetail by the antlers, face, ears, sleek fur, and the body which IMO is a mule deer. Look at the coloration on the back leg and the rough appearance of the body fur. In addition, where is the tail? Even at rest the tail would be visible from that angle. The body is a mule deer and I know Reb saw it but what about the rest of you. Good job WH32. Just what we need is a little fun around here since deer season is done and turkey, at least for me, hasn't startedyet.
Oh Reb, now I know why I never wanted to hunt the elusive superior and respectful southern whitetail in innovative Florida.Strange things must happen in those swamps. If the deer look like that I would hate to see the gaters.:D |
RE: What is this a picture of?
its a whitetail you can tell by the antlers. He's also looks like hes is transitioning into his winter coat. I would say a S. Texas buck

Rhody Hunter,
I am from the South, but I agree with you. It's getting old. |
RE: What is this a picture of?
Part whitetail, antelope, coyote ,and lion maybe to.... But if I seen it and was desperate during the last day of seasonit would become whitetail deer= shootable...
|
RE: What is this a picture of?
That is definately a whitetail!
|
RE: What is this a picture of?
definately a whitetail. the antlers don't fork in groups of two like a mule's do. and the coloration and markings are different.
|
RE: What is this a picture of?
Whitetail...no doubt!
|
RE: What is this a picture of?

RE: What is this a picture of?
Looks like a Mule/WhiteTail Deer Cross Breed
Look at the ears. Every thing looks like a WhiteTail except the ears. 98 percent whitetail JMHO |
RE: What is this a picture of?
Crossbreed was my first thought, too. I have a friend in Wyoming who says they've been crossbreeding there for quite a while. I don't know what characteristics would be predominant (other than the Southern thing), but it might look like this one.
IM jaybe :) |
RE: What is this a picture of?
I don't get this thread.... An obvious picture of a whitetail, why do we need a poll?

BTW, it's a Whitetail, probably South Tex by the background! |
RE: What is this a picture of?
The photo is taken from here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_tail_deer cnhntr: A mule deer's antlers don't ALWAYS fork... And, sometimes, a white-tail's antlers do. |
