Default Should I get a free tag?

I took a small buck last fall and I found that it had been shot before. Due to the infection in this deer I was unable to use any of the meat. Should the resource officers be able to grant a new tag in these instances?

I never thought of that before. Sounds like a lousey deal. If yu hunted here you woulden't get another tag. But we get 2 Buck tags here in Ma.

Our DOW officials can grant a new tag. I saw it happen to a non res hunter who shot a small doe with a bow. The deer was clearly sick and had some sores on the back and legs. When they peeled the skin back some of the meat was bad and the DOW confiscated it.

Cardeer is correct, In PA if you show the deer to a game official they will issue you a new tag for the same current year.

I would vote for no and just write it off to bad luck.
