this has nothing to do with hunting but while my son and i were riding atv's last monthwe came upon a man in the woods playing a banjo. in the middle of nowhere there he was pickin and grinnin. wasn't playing dueling banjo's but we didn'y stay around though.

I've found a buck knife, flash lights, and a some car keys. I gave the key to the gas station in town just in case someone ask them about it.

Not as good a story as the dead guy, but I was amused by this:

I found a box turtlea few years ago while I waswalking my dogin the summer, so I took him home and gave him to my cousins for a pet. They painted their names on his shell and kept him for a few days. They lived at least five miles away, as the crow flies. Well, after they realized that raising pet box turtles wasn't their cup of tea, they set Mr. Paintshell free in the woods behind their house.

In the first week of bow season (about 2 months later) I'm bowhunting behind the house and see something moving in the leaves. Sure enough, Mr. Paintshell came back home, and almost all of the paint was worn off. He managed to cross at least 3 roads, one of which is like a highway. I kinda felt bad after that, because I shouldn't have taken him in the first place, and it was my fault that he had to make such a great pilgrimage. Seriously, five miles is a long way for a turtle to go. I got out of my stand and chilled with Mr. Paintshell for a while, and scraped the rest of the paint off of him.He looked like he had places to go and turtles to see, so I climbed back into my perch and watch him slowly mope off into the sunset.

Probably the coolest thingI have found was an old French made bayonet, we had it aged and it was from the Revolution war period. Living in New England you find some pretty old stuff out there, but I couldn't believe how good of shape it was in for 230+ years old. The guess why it hadn't completely rusted out was that what we thought had been leaf matter wrapping the blade had been heavily oiled cloth wrapping it. While it is heavily pitted it cleaned up real nice and you can read the engravings on it, if you read French.

I don't know how those guys did it. An M16 with a bayonet is one thing to carry, but this thing is more like a short sword 2 foot long blade at least. At the end of on of their long muskets, it must have weighed a ton. I always pictured it as having been attached toor in a pack that some soldier had lost or left.

There is a lot of weird stuff in the woods by us, some of the things i have found were a treadmill, washing machine, mailbox, couch, and a big ol safe with about 10 bullet holes in the door.

couldnt tell what was inside the safe, but whoever wanted to get inside it got in pretty easy it looked like. And I'm from Grandville, MI pretty close to where you're from, but i hunt up in Baldwin

This one WMA I squirrel hunt I found a couple of vending machines. While bowhunting, I saw a domestic cat in the middle of the woods. I had full draw on it but didn't have the heart.

I found a make shift pot farm about 2 weeks ago while shed hunting! these guys really used thier heads too, they had fence to keep the deer from eating thier "stash", paint trays to collect rain water and a load of jugs to store it! They got a big surprise if they come back this year!! We always find a lot of dead deer during black powder season too! people don't look to hard after they shoot I guess...

i found a guys pants once, i was gonna check the pockets, but if theres a naked guy runnin' around in the woods,i wasnt about to bend over unless therewas someone looking out, if you catch my drift!

Another time i found a gut pile on my grand mothers land, the funny thing isme and my brother are the only ones with permision to hunt there. Later my brother and i were walking back towards the car, when two guys stopped us, " Hey, you know your on private land right" one of the guys said, "Yeah, hey my grand mother told me i was the only one with permission to hunt here... so what was your name?" i said. well after talking to the guys it turns out that the people that owned the land before my grandmother gave this one guy permission, and generations went by, my grandma bought the lot and these guys still treated it like their own hunting preserve. and as it turns out the gut pile was theres and it used to belong to a 10 point whitetail! that should have been our deer! chances are they are still gonna hunt there, so ill just have to get used to it.

It was a hot august afternoon and I was crazy enough to be hanging tree stands. As I was walkingthrough thewoods dripping wet with sweat and a parched mouth I realized I had nothing to quench my thirst. Than I looked down in a gulley and seen a ice cooler. What are the odds anything cold is in there I thought. I open the lid and lo and behold the cooler is full of ice cold beer. After thoroughly quenching my thirst I resumed hanging stands to the best of my ability. I never found out where the beer came from but guessed it was an underaged beer party..........dabow

ah, that is total bull sh*t! tell them that the man that "used" to own the land no longer has controll of that property and your grandma now does. tell them that they have no right to hunt there when you two have the only permission to hunt there. if they refuse to stop hunting there, then call the game warden and tell him about the tenpoint that they didnt have permission to hunt. you need to have writtin permission from the CURRENT land owner to hunt a private residence in ohio. seriously. dont let these punks get away!!!!!! and stop them from hunting there. i'm mad about it and it's not even my land![:@][:@]

I actually found two graves with headstones from the 1820's at the base of a big cedar tree. It appeared to be a mother and child.

I have found absolutely nothing.... yet.

Some squirrells occasionally. But I would seriously freak out if I saw a dead guy.

Dead guys in the woods... ...And I thought I was just scared of snakes!...

I just remembered I found a persons ashes.A few days after I found the ashes I ran into the lady who left them there. It was her sons ashes.

i've also stumbled onto a dead guy. this one was also a hispanic male that had been shot between the eye's with a smaller caliber pistol. turned out to be a drug deal gone bad in an ajoining county. he was shot over there and driven to the woods where his murderer tried to hide him in a palmetto flat.

Once was exiting the Florida bottomlands after a morning deer hunt (respect), and walked out up onto a creek bank and stared face t face with nothing other than a salty toothed Florida moccasin! Yikes!

I found a thermos that another hunter had left at the base of a tree; it turned out to be a really good spot to sit.
The most interesting thing I found was a horseshoe embedded in a tree. Actually, it had apparently been set in the crotch of a tree when it was young, then the tree grew around it leaving half of it sticking out.

I found a poached cow elk about 25 yards away from an illegal salt lick in the mountains while I was elk hunting two years ago.

Other things I have found:

50 cal shell casings from air force training missions that were flown ine the desert not too far from home during WWII
Old tie flumes from back in the old logging days (late 1800's)
Arrow heads and spear points
Old glass caps that used to be on the top of telephone/power lines at the site of an old ghost town
Petrified trees
Old cabins

The original poster stated "what have you found hunting that did not belong to you" Since I hunt my own land everything I find belongs to me! That includes property people leave in their trucks while trespassing parked on my land. Thanks for the two rifles trespassers!
