I have bought the cheaper ones and like them, personally. Yes you can pick up wind and leaves but you can also hear that crunching sound of the leaves as the deer move closer to you! I guess it depends on how bad of hearing you have???

NOTE: If the one you purchase or use does not have adecibel suppressor for gun shots make sure that you turn it off before firing your gun. I know from expirence!

i think if your health requires the need for one, it will help, but with good eye sight and hearing, its a waste of money, too expensive,most of the time i've seen the animal before i hear it,with all the little critters in the woods i'd go crazy checking out every little sound,but huntn has become all about a DOLLAR.........

I agree with rybohunter. If you leave the volume on a medium setting you hear normal sounds and alittle more but it sure does cut out the blast from your gun which in my situation is what I bought them for.
